Driving or booking a ride through one of the area’s reputable limousine services is still the safest way for you and your family to get away from it all. And the destinations below are all within driving distance if you live in New Jersey or New York.

The Finger Lakes, NY
For a relaxing retreat, head for New York’s Finger Lakes. The region’s 11 glacial lakes offer boating, fishing, and water sports, or you can enjoy hiking at local state parks, scenic drives, and wine tasting at the Seneca Lake Wine Trail’s many wineries. The area is also known for its spectacular fall foliage, but with its variety of charming towns and seasonal attractions the Finger Lakes is a great place to visit any time of year.
Saratoga Springs, NY
The famed thoroughbred race track – the country’s oldest – may not be open to spectators, but Saratoga Springs remains an ideal destination for a long late-summer weekend. Take advantage of the many self-guided walking tours to explore the historic downtown and enjoy outdoor dining at one of the many fine restaurants. A visit to the Spa State Park, known for its 12 natural mineral springs dotted throughout the grounds, is a must-do.
Shelter Island, NY
Nestled between the North and South forks of Long Island, Shelter Island ‘s laid-back vibe offers the perfect escape from the everyday. With over 2,000 acres of tidal creeks, woodlands, and freshwater marshes, the Mashomack Preserve attracts birders, botanists, and hiking enthusiasts. You can also enjoy the quaint boutiques and eateries or swim and sun on pristine beaches.
Cape May, NJ
Known for its charming Victorian-era buildings, many of which house resorts and bed-and-breakfasts, Cape May is a family-friendly seaside destination that has something for everyone – from some of the East Coast’s most unspoiled beaches to boardwalk vendors, dolphin-spotting tours, and feeding the animals at Jersey Shore Alpacas.
This upscale Connecticut town may bring to mind commuters and tennis courts, but it is also a beautiful spot to spend a leisurely day or weekend. You’ll find beaches, harbors, shops, and eateries – all within a short drive from New Jersey or New York City.
The Berkshires, MA
Set against a breathtaking backdrop, this mountainous region in western Massachusetts blends small-town simplicity with casual luxury. In addition to outdoor activities, spas, boutiques, and restaurants, it is home to an array of cultural pursuits including MASS MoCA, one of the country’s largest centers for contemporary art.
Just four hours from Manhattan or Northern New Jersey, Manchester has become one of Vermont’s year-round go-to destinations. Visitors are drawn to the town’s historic homes, galleries, local breweries, and upscale shopping outlets, as well as endless opportunities to explore the stunning Green Mountains by foot or by car.
