Uber is a digital platform, not an employer.

Drivers don’t undergo fingerprinting and background checks.

There is little oversight of cars and drivers are not required to check into an office.

There isn’t a central source to obtain information about liability insurance which differs by city and state.

For example, in New Jersey and California drivers are required to carry bodily injury liability coverage of $15,000 per person and $30,000 per accident minimum.

In Texas, current minimum liability limits are $30,000 for each injured person, up to a total of $60,000 per accident, and $25,000 for property damage per accident.

There’s a lack of transparency about what type of insurance Uber offers.

Drivers are misclassified as independent contractors (as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor).

Drivers use their own cars which are not commercially certified. #uberscam
